There’s a father in our school lift group who doesn’t get to do any lifts. It all started one playdate afternoon when he dropped my friend’s child back home. The child skipped into the house and said: “We don’t have to wear our seatbelts in William’s dad’s car. He says he’s a cool dad.”

There was an audible “clunk” as the parents’ jaws simultaneously hit the floor.
