This may hold true in our recent local government elections. The opposition campaign and narrative were collectively focused on removing the ANC from power. After the elections, the excitement centred on the same narrative, with some parties claiming credit and victory for ensuring that the ANC had lost its majority.

The ANC lost its majority in many municipalities, but so did other political parties, some of which completely lost the little they had.
