There is this vivid image of then president Jacob Zuma dancing like a teenager on synthetic drugs while singing the song “We are ready for Nkosazana” during a rally in 2017.

It was in the build up to the ANC’s national conference and the dominant party faction at the time was in the habit of hijacking government events to campaign for Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to succeed her corruptible ex-husband. On Women’s Day that year, the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) hired more than a dozen buses to transport black, green and gold-clad supporters to an official event that was to be addressed by then Premier Sihle Zikalala. This was one of many such disgraceful affairs.
