Six students in a single unit shared a shower, toilet and fridge, despite the fact that Unisa paid close to R3000 a month for each at a private residence last year.

The deal, which amounted to more than R3 million that was to be paid from a donation made by the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BankSeta), has since been found to be irregular, according to a report by the university.
