Police Minister Bheki Cele flew into Gqeberha on Thursday to quell simmering tension between Somali nationals and taxi operators, which started on Wednesday, culminating in the torching of eight taxis, one vehicle and four shops.

On arrival, Cele was whisked to a venue in Korsten where the two fighting parties were already having a meeting to resolve the stalemate.
