‘Covid-19 could change Gauteng population’

The latest data from Stats SA show that Gauteng, which this week surpassed the Western Cape as the epicentre of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, has recorded the largest inflow of migrants, with 1.55 million people settling in the 18 1001 square kilometre region between 2016 and this year.

These data were released by Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke on Thursday when he delivered the Mid Year Population Estimates for this year.
