Explosive details have emerged about how Unisa instituted a private arbitration to fire its chief financial officer Phumlani Zwane last year, even though he had allegedly rescued the university from total financial collapse.

The details surfaced ahead of a review application lodged by Unisa against a Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) ruling that found in favour of Zwane in December.
