Questions about the decision that Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) president Mandisa Maya made to write a judgment in isiXhosa three years ago dominated her interview for the job of deputy chief justice on Monday.

Maya was the only candidate interviewed for the position after she was nominated by President Cyril Ramaphosa in March, following his decision to appoint Chief Justice Raymond Zondo as head of the judiciary.
