Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo has been appointed as the acting MEC of health while Bandile Masuku takes leave of absence.

This comes after the ANC in Gauteng announced that Masuku would have to take a leave of absence while the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) probes allegations that he was involved in the R125 million personal protective equipment tender awarded to King Madzikane II Diko’s Royal Bacha projects.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura made this announcement during the first half of the weekly Covid-19 coronavirus briefing on Thursday.
