Ramaphosa extends spy chief’s contract

President Cyril Ramaphosa has thrown a lifeline to advocate Mahlodi Muofhe, head of the domestic branch the State Security Agency (SSA), by extending his stay with the agency until at least next year.

Muofhe, fondly referred to as “the good advocate” in Ramaphosa’s circles, had his contract extension concluded on or around April 24, City Press has learnt.

His extended stay confirms his place at the centre of Ramaphosa’s plans to restructure the SSA back to the former National Intelligence Agency and SA Secret Services divisions, which former president Jacob Zuma dissolved.
