This shift in judicial jurisdiction appears to have been necessitated by allegations of political interference that have prevented the Botswana directorate of public prosecutions from proceeding with litigation as a result of not receiving mutual legal assistance from South Africa’s justice and correctional services department, and being stonewalled on all its attempts at getting legal cooperation.
