Former Mpumalanga social development department head Xoli Mahlalela is protesting that while many allegations of malfeasance were made against him, he was never given a chance to clear his name in a disciplinary hearing.

Mahlalela’s three-year contract with the department expired in October, after he was placed on special leave for more than two months.
