Amid the accusations of underhanded deals in the Motsepe Foundation Championship final features last weekend, the question of fair play in local football is once again brought to the fore.

Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids, whose team is hanging on to the DStv Premiership by a thread, has called for the league to ensure fairness in the matches involving teams in the relegation dog fight – particularly the matches between Marumo Gallants and Swallows, as well as Chippa United versus Golden Arrows.

While at it, newly crowned league champions Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to use home ground advantage in their must-win CAF Champions League semifinal against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
