The ANC is set to bring in independent, top legal minds and forensic experts to advise it as it compiles a report on all its members who have been implicated in misconduct, including that related to looting during the Covid-19 crisis, and must decide what to do with them.
This proactive step is intended to protect the integrity of the governing party and was agreed at the last national executive committee (NEC) meeting earlier this month, where the top six ANC officials, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, were given a month to compile an audited list of cases where party members throughout the party structures – from branches and regions to provinces – were accused of corruption and other serious crimes, and make recommendations for action.
