Wendy Philander, member of the Western Cape legislature, and Albert Fritz, MEC for community safety, are the favourites to take over as interim leader of the DA in the Western Cape - the only province governed by the opposition party.

The post is vacant after Bonginkosi Madikizela resigned as leader and MEC for transport after allegations that he lied about his academic qualifications.
