POLITICS

Abantu Batho Congress (ABC) president Philani “PG” Mavundla was voted deputy mayor. Mavundla and ABC saved the ANC’s bacon and his position was seemingly in recognition of that.

Kaunda was up against the DA’s Nicole Graham while Mavundla was nominated alongside Inkatha Freedom Party’s (IFP) Mduduzi Mhlongo. In the end, Kaunda got 113 votes to Graham’s 104 and Mavundla secured 113 with Mhlongo getting 104 of the votes.
