Former City of Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba yesterday unveiled his new party, Action SA, which aims to re-energise the majority of eligible voters who, over the past few elections, have not even bothered to register to vote.

Speaking to City Press on the eve of his party’s launch, a confident Mashaba said the ANC was only in power “because of the people who stayed away from casting their votes”, adding that, at present, the governing party only had a mandate from 30% of the country’s citizenry.
