The ANC, particularly Gauteng chairperson and Premier David Makhura, has a difficult decision to make regarding whether or not to axe suspended Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku, who this week made a last-ditch effort to persuade the party’s provincial integrity commission to change some of the damning findings against him.

Details of Masuku’s unenviable position are captured in a letter in which he pleaded with the commission to reconsider the findings that he could have done better in his handling of the alleged personal protective equipment (PPE) looting scheme under his supervision in the Gauteng health department.
