The Absa Premiership will emphatically return with a mouth-watering clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, August 11.

The clash will be at Dobsonville Stadium at 6pm, the “new” home ground of Sundowns, without fans in attendance.

PSL teams were assigned new home grounds for the remainder of the season. The matches, all 54 of them, will be played in different stadiums across Gauteng. The Premiership winner will walk away with a staggering R15 million.

The storyline of the opening clash between the Pretoria and Soweto giants will be Rhulani Mokwena.

In his first game back at Sundowns, the assistant coach will face his former team Pirates, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons.

Currently, in second place with 44 points, Sundowns could close the gap to one point with leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who have 48 points. Pirates, on the other hand, are fourth on 40 points.

Sundowns will have a busy opening week as they take on Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup semifinal at the FNB Stadium on Saturday August 8. Baroka face Bloemfontein Celtic in the other semi at the Bidvest Stadium.

The last games in the top league will be played on September 5 while the second division ends on August 30.
