Orlando Pirates midfielder Vincent Pule could be out of action for up to 12 weeks.

This was confirmed by the Bucs medical team on Friday as the club provided some details on the extent of the thigh injury the 29-year-old picked up while on national team duty last weekend.

“Pule has suffered a grade III tear of the quad and could be ruled out of action to up to 12 weeks,” said Pirates on the club’s official website.

The setback befell the winger during a Bafana Bafana warm-up session before South Africa’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.

Pule was set to start in the match at Bahir Dar, but was replaced by Thabiso Kutumela in the game Bafana won 3-1.

Pule, who started in all of Pirates’ seven official matches across all competitions, did not make the trip to Brazzaville, Congo, where the Bucs will face Diables Noirs in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round. City Press correspondent
