Quite what the exact order was for the man likely to succeed Faf du Plessis in leading the South African test side is a moot point, but the impression created when the discussion around the topic was still fresh was that middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen was probably last on a speculative list including Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar.
