“I am the baddest b***h in the game and you all better recognise,” exclaimed an excited Lerato Kganyago when City Press called her this week to talk about her being announced as the fourth most Googled South African personality this year.

Kganyago follows Katlego Maboe, Nikita Murray and Edwin Sodi on the list, which was released by Google earlier this month. The heavily booked and busy Kganyago could not speak at length about what this meant to her due to her tight schedule, but she indicated that she was excited by the news.

Kganyago has had an eventful year and a number of factors could have contributed to this. Firstly, the Metro FM radio jock married businessperson Thami Ndlela just a few days before President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the hard lockdown in March.

The news came as a shock to the star’s fans, who had known her to be in a serious relationship with fellow radiohead DJ Naked, whose real name is Quintin Masina. But Kganyago instead married the Mpumalanga-born businesses mogul just a few months after they started dating.

The newly wedded couple caused a social media stir two months after their wedding when Kganyago announced that they had split during lockdown.

She broke the news on Instagram and Twitter in May, making headlines for a number of days.

Speculation was rife, with social media users revealing personal information about the star’s hubby and reports coming to the fore about scandals relating to him, including allegations of fraud.

But love was back in the air a few months later, with Ndlela surprising Kganyago with a romantic gesture of flowers and balloons at their mansion for her birthday. He proposed to Kganyago again and the media personality was back in the news. Some even speculated that their break-up was a publicity stunt.

Kganyago also launched a few health and beauty products this year, which again saw her making headlines. She launched a sanitary towel brand and a beauty line for eyelashes.
