Global music streaming service Deezer recently released its latest figures, and our own amapiano is currently the number-one streamed playlist in South Africa for this year.

Amapiano has come a long way from the townships it first called home. From its humble beginnings where, during sets, DJs would pull out their pianos and play along to the music, the dance-craze genre has become the next chance for South Africa to take on international stages.
