New song, new genre, new artist!

In a case of “if you can’t beat them, join them”, one of the most influential record labels in the country, Ambitiouz Entertainment, has decided to extend its catalogue and join the amapiano wave.

It seems the company’s mission is to dominate all genres and feels that the time is right to add amapiano, and has found in Thato “Wave Rhyder” Molupe the most suitable artist to dominate the charts.

The 22-year-old from Lesotho was mostly doing Afro-pop before signing with Ambitiouz.

Early in October, Wave Rhyder, who is the first to release an amapiano song from Ambitiouz Entertainment since the inception of the stable, dropped a debut single called Pula.

The song is about a young reveler who decides to attend a party during the week and miss work the following day. He is not only in trouble with his boss, but is also cash-strapped after partying up a storm.

It feels really special to be the one who introduces the new genre

“Party during the week/ Letsetsa spaneng o chaele boss ke sick/ O phone back, ha asa o believe/ Ee ke weak, mo biri li chipi,” Rhyder pleads with a friend in Pula, asking them to tell the boss that he is sick, cheekily relaying that the boss must call him back if they don’t believe him.

“Releasing a song with Ambitiouz is a dream come true because I have always wanted to be part of their team. It feels really special to be the one who introduces the new genre,” Wave Rhyder told City Press.

The artist dropped a vibey music video with the single, and it takes us through different scenes showing friends living large and carefree.

Prior to releasing the song, Ambitiouz Entertainment took to social media to call on amapiano producers to hit them up with beats. The label received more than 20 000 emails and physical drops, showing that even the company’s followers look forward to the new development.
