Big Brother Titans housemate Sandra Essiene believes her pairing with Tlholo Tsoagong, aka Theo Traw, was the reason she missed out on a chance to walk away with over R1 million in prizes.

Essiene and Tsoagong were the first pair to be voted out of the Big Brother house on Sunday evening.

Essiene said if she was not paired with Tsoagong, she would probably still be in the house.

She stated:

I was not expecting to come out so soon. I think I went in there trying to play the game by myself, so when the whole pairing thing happened, it threw me off. If I were paired with any other person, we would have made a good pair. I was angry, frustrated and humiliated when I picked Theo because, from what you guys could see, he is a very nonchalant person, but that is not the person I am. So I felt like I was being positive for the both of us.

The 27-year-old former beauty queen said it was not her plan to bring violence into the Big Brother house as people named her the “mean girl”, and contrary to popular belief, she did not have issues with some of her women housemates.

“I know when a girl is being territorial, and I get that. Khosi had her own issues, and I had my own issues, but personally, I don’t have a problem with her. She is a competitive person. She is a sweet soul, and I would chill with her outside the house if she were willing,” she said.

The outspoken model told City Press that as short as her stay was, she had a beautiful experience and was grateful for the opportunity.

Getting on that platform alone is the best thing that could ever happen to me, so I am grateful to Big Brother.

She praised South African cuisine and the humanity she experienced.

“I am just seeing South Africa now [after being evicted]. the nice food, the people, the language, hmm, I love it so much. I am going to experience, I think, I will take a vacation and come here just for the experience.”

Speaking to Lawrence Maleka after being booted out of the competition, a visibly distraught Tsoagong said: “I’m just lost for words. I wanted to stay a little longer to help myself more. But God had other plans, so it’s all good.”

He told City Press that he felt he could have tried harder to make connections in the house.

“I learnt that in the Big Brother house, time is important. I could have done better with my relationship with the people in the house. I could have put myself out more. I could not find people who were willing to engage in conversations, and hear my story,” said Tsoagong.

The musician added that the fight he had in the house could have impacted how people perceived him both in and out of the house, which was why he became a target and did not get enough votes.

He said he was planning on focusing on his music career and probably release a full project later in the year.

Only 22 housemates are left in the Big Brother Titans house to fight until day 78. Big Brother Titans is live 24/7 on DStv Channel 198.
