Actresses Gail Mabalane and Ama Qamata’s strong on-screen chemistry is evident on Netflix’s second African Original series, Blood & Water. Mabalane stars as Thandeka Khumalo, the mother of troubled teen, Puleng (Qamata), who investigates the cold case of her older sister who was abducted at birth.

The series made its global debut on Wednesday, with more than 100 000 viewers watching the premier on the Netflix YouTube channel in more than 190 countries.

“As a cast, we were all nervous. Like everyone else, we did not know what to expect as directors did not allow us to watch playbacks when we were filming the drama series. But on Wednesday it was a proud moment to witness the final product and to celebrate with everyone,” Mabalane says.
