Ours is a country riddled with crime due to influences on people such that they either go into a life of bedlam or resort to this in an attempt to escape poverty, albeit temporarily.

While, in theory, jail is supposed to rehabilitate the offenders, South African jails seem to exacerbate their undesirable behaviour.
