Top of the agenda at the Rustenburg meeting was to co-opt new members of the PEC and, just like that, Mahumapelo gained the upper hand in terms of numbers in the provincial ANC structure. His opponents serving in the PEC at the time always lamented that every dispute was taken to a vote and, without fail, Mahumapelo always won.
