Hearing the announcement of the matric results for the class of 2022 by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga on Thursday evening, I felt conflicting joy and frustration.

As a parent and as a South African, it is always amazing to witness personal success. Encouraging stories of pupils from all walks of South African life who have overcome personal challenges to realise their peak potential truly sparks joy.
