Over the past two decades of the South African democracy there have been numerous people claiming to be the royalty of the Khoi-San people, calling for sovereignty of certain areas and people of South Africa.

After years of facing several challenges pertaining to the Khoi-San matters, the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Bill has taken been to the president for assent and has been signed into law.
