Originally scheduled to take place during a ceremony on June 30 last year, the 61st anniversary of the country’s independence passed with Lumumba’s remains still in the custody of Belgian authorities.
The planned ceremony with Belgian King Philippe, current Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo and Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi was postponed until tomorrow – the anniversary of Lumumba’s death.
