To use the words of Dr Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the executive director of UN Women and former deputy president of South Africa, we are facing a “shadow pandemic”.
As a member of the executive at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) and a parent, I wonder how many of the students we sent back to their homes to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are part of these statistics.
