Although this opinion piece concerns the meaning of the Constitutional Court’s judgment regarding former president Jacob Zuma’s case and whether sufficient consensus can be achieved, we should initiate conversations on the subject and its implications for all citizens of South Africa, as well as for our country’s democracy.

In what ways can we imagine responsible deliberations that open all of us to the experience of inclusive interpretation and judgment, as well as openly reasoned consensus?
