“For so many years I prayed to have a child of my own. I prayed endometriosis would not destroy me to the point where I was unable to conceive.

“Just one child, please. Whenever you believe I am ready, God, I am asking for just one child.”

This was the plea of 23-year-old Mbali Ngwenya. The part-time student and beauty business owner from Kempton Park, Johannesburg, was 19 when she was diagnosed with endometriosis.
