Everyone knows you can’t choose your family but you can choose your friends. That doesn’t mean friendships are easy. The path of friendship can be bumpy. There are highs and lows, times when you’re tight and others when the connection feels like it’s slipping. But that’s normal.

Not all friendships are about close bonds. Some are for fun, for a social life, for networking. There are friendships that exist during a particular phase in life – school, university, work – some of whom become life-long friends.

Not all friends can be all things to everyone. You don’t bear your heart to each person you call a friend. In fact, studies show that most adults have an average of just two confidants.
