When she met him, Themba* seemed perfect. She thought he would be a protector and a friend in a new and strange town after she moved to Cape Town from Knysna to study at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

It turned out Siphosethu Phikelela (26) was wrong.

She had been in Cape Town for almost two years when she fell in love. She was living with family members and met Themba at a community radio station where she was being interviewed for her work as a spoken word artist.
