If you go into a salary negotiation saying you want to buy a car or move out of home, you’ve lost the argument before you’ve started. It’s your employer’s responsibility to pay you a market-related wage and reward you appropriately for your hard work. It’s not their responsibility to support your lifestyle. Make sure that you’re asking for a raise for the right reasons, and not because you’d like to earn more.
