Let the sunlight in during the day. It’s free and can help to warm up your house. Open the curtains of your south-facing windows during the day to bring this natural heat into your home. At sunset, close your curtains to keep the heat inside.

Besides adding colour to your home, rugs merge spaces, adding another layer of insulation to the floor, trapping air underneath and keeping it from seeping up and cooling the room. The warmth of the rug will keep your feet warm too.
