I am killing myself

I’m a 32-year-old woman. I feel like killing myself because of my weight problems. I am so big I cannot look at myself in a mirror. My breasts are about to touch the ground and my stomach is very flabby. My body is very heavy in the true sense of being heavy. I don’t like undressing and I always sweat heavily. It is very difficult to diet and I have also tried taking diet pills but nothing helps. I hate myself so much. Please help me.” – Khutala, Mpumalanga

My Dear Khutala

It sounds as if your weight problem is really serious. Please do not think of committing suicide.

Get in touch with a social worker for counselling and advice. Talking to someone professional will ease the burden. A dietician can work out an ideal diet programme for you. Eat the right food such as raw vegetables, fruits and lots of roughage, and drink lots of water, about eight glasses a day. Avoid fatty and sweet products. You should also exercise.

Don’t lose hope because it will take time before you notice the results of dieting. Discipline and confidence are the major solutions for you at the moment. I wish you all the best.
