Miss Deaf South Africa 2015 Finalists


Miss Deaf SA sees 10 beautiful ladies compete for the title of Miss Deaf South Africa 2015. The contestants have varying hearing impairments and are working towards raising awareness about the deaf community and culture. Some of the girls would love seeing Sign Language as an official language and a subject to be taught in schools.

The judging process involves having the girls attend charity events that forms part of the judges’ assessment. The contestants’ performance throughout these will determine who will be crowned Miss Deaf SA.

Your top 10 finalists are:

Zodwa (Barbara) Vakele from Daveyton is 26, Janie Erasmus, 26, from the Capital city

19 years old Mia le Roux from Outdshoorn, Sporty Luzandré van der Berg from Cape Town is also 19, Twenty-year-old Tashie Khan from Johannesburg, Thulisile Nkomo, 22, hails from Randburg, 23-year-old Elrie du Toit from Bloemfontein, Christi Greeff, 21, from Pretoria, hailing from Kempton Park, 21-year-old Chanika Viljoen and last but not least from Worcester in the Western Cape, our final contestant, Ellen Mans (21).

The Miss Deaf South Africa Pageant will be celebrating its 15th birthday this year. The Pageant’s directors have set up an SMS line where the public can donate R10 to the Pageant and various deaf awareness programs and charities. Simply SMS MDS SA to 48748.
