Thandi Klaasen's funeral details


The iconic, South African national treasure, global jazz and blues legend Thandi  Klaasen passed away this past Sunday peacefully in her sleep after a long illness. She had been hospitalized since 09th December after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Tributes continue to pour from all over South Africa and the rest of the world for the fallen national order of Baobab recipient.

Funeral plans are well underway and being finalized.

  • Official Memorial Service: Wednesday 25th January 2017 at Germiston City Hall, Germiston from 12h00pm – 17h00

  • Tribute Jazz Session – Thursday 26th January 2017 at Market Theatre, Newtown Johannesburg from 12h00 -17h00

  • Funeral Service : Friday 27th January 2017 at D.J. Thomas Hall, Eden Park, Alberton from 08h00 then procession leaves at 11h30 for Thomas Nkobi Memorial Park (formerly known as South Park Cemetery);Heroes Acre in Boksburg.
