Cape Town - 'The Queen' viewers are not happy about the departure of Sithembiso Khoza (who played Shaka Khoza) on the series – and they’re making it known.
Reports about the 33-year-old actor leaving the show were confirmed to DRUM in August by the Head of PR & Publicity at Mzansi Magic, Philly Kubheka.
"With the storyline having evolved, the character Shaka does not form a part of it currently. SK Khoza is a very talented and passionate actor who remains an integral part of Mzansi Magic’s authentic storytelling," she said.
Now that the time has finally come for the actor to take a bow, more than 26 000 (and counting) South Africans have signed an online petition on Change.Org, calling on SK to be brought back on the show.
The petition was started by Musa Ngobeni who said the actor "deserves better."
"This petition is to ask the Ferguson Films to either reconsider the termination of Shaka's contract, also known as Sithembiso Khoza. And if the production company cannot do that, to at least give him an honourable send off, after all the years that he has graced our screens," the petition reads.
The petition became so huge that SK Khoza found out about it and immediately took to his Twitter page to thank his fans for their support.
"Apparently - I made history by being the very first actor in SA to have an entire petition and African continent asking for me to come back. Ngyabonga Africa," he wrote.
