3 Muvhango actresses who double up as social media influencers

Long-standing SABC 2 soapie, Muvhango is one of the shows known for unearthing new talent. We have seen many newcomers come and go on the show but in the last few weeks three – of what some may consider as Mzansi’s ‘IT girls’ – have joined the cast.

All of them dabble as brand influencers and models and have been known for trending for their striking looks.

Viewers are not complaining though and tune in every weekday to see them play their roles to perfection.

Khanya Mkangisa (30)

Khanya isn’t new to our TV screens.

The former, child-star has over the years stretched her talent into other things within the entertainment space. From being a Selimathunzi presenter, a YFM host to now being a DJ, Khanya has not limited herself. Her following on social media easily puts her in the list of South Africa’s top influencers.

She joined the soapie in January and tells Move! she loves playing the role of Mbali, a personal assistant who is into the finer things.

Buhle Samuels (29)

Her recent comeback on Muvhango was a surprise to viewers of the show.

She plays the character of Matshidiso, a role that won her best newcomer award 2015 at the Royalty Soapie Awards in 2015. The character was introduced to the show in 2014. She left the show in 2018. She has returned to stir the pot the only way Matshidiso knows how to.

Muvhango was her biggest break, but the media darling has gone on to dip her hands in other work outside of acting. She is a brand influencer often sharing her collaborations with different clothing, skincare and make-up brands over the years.

Kamo Modisakeng (25)

Kamo also joined Muvhango in 2020 and plays the character of Warona who is a receptionist. We were first introduced to the actress, now turned brand influencer in 2015 on Vuzu Amp’s drama series Ayeye. She has also been on Mzansi Magic’s Rockville season 4, The Road and eTV’s Broken Vows. Apart from her acting, she has also built her brand and is an A-list influencer.
