Senzo Radebe, who plays Sthembiso “Sthe” Gumede in Muvhango, felt like he’d been given a second chance after a car crash last year left him hospitalised for weeks.

The 24-year-old actor also felt he needed to make the most of the chance he’d been given. “I’ve started working out more and giving my best in everything I do,” he says.

Here are a few other things you didn’t know about Senzo.

1 The Alexandra-born actor goes to the gym six times a week.

“I also follow a strict diet. Right now I eat 70% protein, 20% carbs and 10% fat, which is avocado, peanuts and almonds,” he says.

2 He’s filmed scenes for Mzansi Magic’s Ring of lies. “My character’s name is Scalp-crusher, a martial arts fighter. Although it isn’t a huge role, every role is important to me. They wanted someone who had a background in martial arts and who could also act.”

3 If he wasn’t an actor, Senzo says he would’ve been a doctor. “Although in high school I studied dramatic arts, I was also really good at maths and science. After my studies I decided acting was my first love and I attended Duma Ndlovu Academy at the Joburg Theatre to try to enhance my skill.”

4 He’s shy and forces himself to socialise. “My job helps me speak to people. I know how to act like I’m not shy. I become very nervous around people.”

5 When he isn’t on a strict diet, Senzo loves to eat ice cream. “My place always has chocolate ice cream. I’m still exploring with different brands and I will try anything.”
