5 times Nonhle and Andile Jali had trouble in their tumultuous relationship

Nonhle and Andile Jali’s marriage has been in the spotlight over the past weeks, all thanks to the recent rants by the footsie’s wife – but the couple’s relationship problems seem to have started long before that.

From money problems, assault charges and love children – the pair seem to have been through it all and still remained together.

DRUM takes a look at 5 scandals Nonhle and Andile’s have had in the past few years.

1.       Nonhle’s past marriage affecting the their relationship

Back in 2015, Andile was allegedly ready for marriage but Nonhle wasn’t too keen as she was petrified by the thought of marriage after being abused and belittled by her ex-husband.

“Andile is desperate to get married but Nonhle is the one who is holding back,” a source told The Juice.

Speaking to DRUM in the same year, Nonhle revealed how she was abused by her ex-husband, Themba Msiza.

“I was belittled in that marriage and ended up lacking self-belief,” she said.

But speaking to DRUM, Msiza denied the allegations and instead accused Nonhle of lying about her degree and accused Nonhle of getting herself pregnant in order to win Andile Jali over.

“I was with my friend playing games,” he recalls. “She came over and that’s when the argument started.” He says Nonhle started smashing things and admits he manhandled her and broke his hand. He says Nonhle walked out after he tried to calm her down. “But she came back and grabbed me by my private parts,” he claimed. “And that’s when I punched her in the face.”

“If she didn’t get herself pregnant, Andile was going to leave her. That’s her meal ticket”.

2.       Money issues

In a recent video rant, Nonhle claimed that Andile’s Mamelodi Sundowns salary was not enough to maintain her lifestyle.

“I’m supposed to be wearing long peruvian inches (wigs) to show that my man can afford, but here I am in braids,” she said in the video.

“There’s no money at Sundowns. Even when they win a cup, you can’t even see where that money is because it goes towards the schoolfees of Junior, Cupcake and Amahle (Andile’s other children),” she continues before saying that Andile needed a ‘helper’ to assist in maintaining his wife’s lifestyle.

But according to a close friend of Nonhle’s who spoke to DRUM in 2018, the couple were never happy and had financial problems.

“They have four kids in the house, how much is the medical aid per child? And there are also school fees to pay and food to buy – it became too much,” the source said before revealing that Andile became an alcoholic due to financial stress.

“You would find him drinking because of the stress. Sometimes people just have to accept when things aren’t working out and move on.”

Other sources say the couple “always fight” and “it’s always about money.

“She always wants money from Andile. She wants to live this lavish lifestyle and Andile has to pay for it. She is too demanding and he is just tired of her demanding antics,” the sources told DRUM.

3.       Assault charges

In 2018, Andile found himself in hot water after allegedly assaulting Nonhle. According to sources who spoke to The Daily Sun, Jali allegedly assaulted her at his house in Pretoria.

“It sounded as if well-known soccer star Andile Jali and his wife Nonhle Ndala were fighting.

Then Nonhle came running out of the house, heading for her car – but the Sundowns midfielder caught up with her and slapped her,” the resident told the publication.

Nonhle then went to Boschkop police station where she laid a charge of domestic violence and malicious damage to property against him. Andile then also laid a counter charge of assault against his wife. He was later granted bail following his arrest.

4.       Andile’s drinking problem

According to reports, after returning from Belgium in 2018, Andile Jali developed a drinking problem. The footballer allegedly failed three pre-training breathalyser tests at Mamelodi Sundowns, which resulted in him having argument with the club’s coach, Pitso Mosimane.

Since then, the SA Football Players Union (SAFPU) has vowed to intervene by helping him sober up. Speaking to City Press, Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe , SAFPU president said “I spoke to Andile and we have agreed to meet next week (this coming week) as he was busy preparing for their game (played yesterday) against Baroka FC.

“We are prepared to intervene if indeed there are problems. But first we need to sit down with him and get to the bottom of this, because we cannot just go according to media reports.”

But according to sources who spoke to DRUM, Andile drinks because of the stress that Nonhle causes him.

“He drinks because he is stressed,” a source at the couple’s complex says.

“After the match on Saturday [before the night of the alleged assault] he came back drunk. “But his wife fought with him and he drove out shortly afterwards saying he wanted some fresh air because his wife was starting a fight with him.”

His excessive drinking led to him getting arrested for drunk driving in May 2018.

“He was released on R1,000 bail,” TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba told IOL.

5.       Infidelity and love children

The couple have three kids together, including twins, and a child each from previous relationships but Andile found himself on the wrong side of the law again in 2019 when he was taken to court for defaulting on child support payments.

According to a Sunday World report, Jali fathered a child with a unnamed businesswoman while married to his wife Nonhle Ndala.
