South African rapper Emtee is in mourning.

The musician, real name Mthembeni Ndevu, lost his manager and long-time friend Lebohang Masangwayi.

In a statement released by Emtee's record label, they said Lebo’s cause of death is unknown and will be shared with the public by his family in due course.

They also addressed the speculation around Lebo’s death and whether he was with Emtee at the time.

“For the record, at the time of death Lebo was neither with Emtee nor was he at Emtee’s place or studio. We view these and similar utterances as inhuman and insensitive to both Lebo’s family and friends in particular Emtee, who at the moment, is trying to come to terms with the loss of a childhood friend.”
