Last year saw SA musician Sho Madjozi gain international recognition after her epic performance of John Cena on Germany-based music studio platform Colors – and since then, the star continues to soar.
Now, the Huku hitmaker has been signed to US record label Epic Records, which has artists such as DJ Khaled, Travis Scott and Mariah Carey in its stable.
Speaking to Variety, CEO of Epic Records Sylvia Rhone said the label was proud to collaborate with the musician as well as Sony Music Entertainment Africa (SMEA).
“African artists are enjoying an unprecedented level of visibility in music and Sho Madjozi is beautifully waving the flag for South Africa. She’s bold, brilliant and remarkably talented and her music embodies all that is special about her homeland. We’re honored to have her as the newest member of the Epic family,” Sylvia said.
Taking to social media, 28-year-old Sho proudly shared the news.
“You’re looking at the newest signee at Epic Records US!! Iya,” she captioned a picture of herself.
And South Africans couldn’t be prouder.
Many congratulated the artists and wished her well.
