Many South African creatives and artists are coming up with ways to keep in touch with their fanbase and create content during the coronavirus pandemic. Some have started YouTube channels or TikTok accounts, but AKA is releasing his very own app.
The award-winning rapper recently announced that he’ll be launching his own subscription-based app on Friday 8 May.
The app is called AKA TV and the content will include exclusive music previews, performance showcases, behind the scenes footage, specialist AKA-hosted shows and documentaries, celebrity interviews and more.
He announced the new app on his social media pages.
In a statement about AKA’s latest career move, the chief opportunity creator at The Vth Season, Raphael Benza said, “The launch of #AKATV is testament to Kiernan’s progressiveness and forward-thinking as a musician and businessman. This is something he has wanted to do for a long time and we’re proud to see this initiative come to fruition.”
The app will be available at Apple’s App Store and Google Play for a monthly subscription fee of R49.
