Babes Wodumo’s father speaks out: ‘Mandla needs to rot in jail'

Cape Town - Following the graphic viral video of Musician Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo assaulting singer Babes Wodumo, her father has spoken out and is scared for his daughter’s life.

Speaking to DRUM Mbongeni Simelane said, “I don’t want to see his face. Mandla needs to rot in jail. This has gone on for far too long,” he says.

He further claimed that his Mampintsha is allegedly using "muti on his daughter" and that is why she hasn’t left him even after he abused her before.

“Babes once even found a voodoo doll under Mandla’s bed with muthi inside it and needles on the side. The doll was written Babes Wodumo on it and he used the muthi (informal African medicine) to control her. She sent us pictures and showed us the doll and we had to pray,” he adds.

Reverend Mbongeni is pleading police authorities to help him.

“There is a lot of corruption at the police station but I urge the police to have a heart and put my daughter’s needs first because she will die in the hands of that monster. We need to put an end to the abuse,” he adds.

Mampintsha had not responded to any requests for comment at the time of publishing.

According to National Commissioner of Police, General Khehla John Sitole authorities are currently investigating the recorded video and are in the process of tracking down the 24-year-old singer – in hopes to get her statement and open a case against Mampitsha.
