MTV Base’s annual list of the #BaseHottestMCs got a lot of tongues wagging on Thursday night after pitting South African rappers against one another for the top 10 spots.

While many discussed the final list on Twitter, media personality Bonang Matheba also had something to say – and it wasn’t what Sho Madjozi’s fans wanted to see.

It all began when Bonang complained about Anatii not making the list and saying that the list should be compiled again.

“Anatii wrote a song for Beyonce. Won an award too. Start again!,” she wrote.

A tweep then responded by asking whether Anatii was in fact a rapper, to which Bonang responded by asking whether Sho Madjozi (who was voted as the number two hottest MC on the list) was a rapper.

“Is Sho Majozi?,” the Being Bonang star tweeted.

Many felt that this was a jab at Sho Madjozi and soon came to the John Cena hitmaker’s defence by saying she was a rapper.

Although Sho Madjozi did not respond to Bonang’s question directly, she took to her page to retweet a tweet she had written in March in which she addresses those who asked whether she is a rapper.

“I don’t answer that corny “is Sho Madjozi a rapper” question. I just do my work,” the tweet reads.

The rapper then went on to express her excitement at being on the list for the first time and taking the number two spot.

“First time on the list and I’m on number 2. Thank you @MTVBaseSouth#BaseHottestMCs ,” she wrote.

Here's a complete list of other rappers who made the list.
